Red and Yellow Butterfly June 25, 2009

Trendy Thursday: Red and Yellow Butterfly

I have been seeing great stylings of jacket, cardigan and all sorts of outer wearing with maxi dress lately. I have this in my drafts for quite some time. I would like it if the jacket is an open one to show the beautiful yellow belt on the maxi. But I like the colour of this jacket so, yeah as usual – colour won! ;)

Oh before you go,  see how I modestified Beyonce’s Red Carpet look  here!

Trendy Thursday: The Colour Pink

The Colour Pink

The Colour Pink by Elwarda featuring Fendi clutches

I love the richness of this pink top. But it made me realise, I haven’t been wearing pink in a verry long time! I used to have this bright hot pink trousers that I found in one of my charity shops hunt. Oohh, I really should look for the pics of me wearing them trousers! :D

Anyway, would you wear this bright a pink?

One top, 3 looks April 23, 2009

Trendy Thursday: One top, 3 looks

So after series of Polyvore sets, this lady is making her appearance again in Trendy Thursday section.

What I always like being a hijabi is how I can always alter my whole look by just altering my hijab/headscarf. So I can use my clothes again, and again, and again, and still able to achieve different looks just by altering a piece of cloth on my head! Neat huh?

This is look 1

The sleeping-while-standing look. To achieve this look, don on a beautiful printed purple, blue and black with glittery silver shawl. Pick your pose and be ready to be photographed. And immediately, when the camera flashed – close your eyes!

This is Look 2.

Wear a bright orange stretchy shawl (ooh I love those stretchy materials) that shines so bright it rivals the sun. Put on an oversized shades that is not only a great prop to copy the Paris Hilton look but also a great tool to protect the eyes (I mean seriously, protect those eyes people). Then stand in front of the door in gangsta-wannabe stance and say ‘wassup, wassup’

This is Look 3

Look demure as a cat waiting to be patted in this striped blue green shawl with a green lace headband while standing besides the stairs. Do spot the shiny sheen of sweat above the lip from hours of hard work trying to salvage a bad hijab day (yes, this is from a bad hijab day look actually).

I hope by the end of this 3 looks you realise that it is really easy to achieve variety by changing your hijab/scarf. And that I am trying to be funny. (this entry is definitely going into Kooky Kolumn too!).

Miss 9-5 – by Elwarda on Polyvore.com

This is what I would wear if I work 9-5 :D

The purple shirtdress is perfect as it looks formal enough, comfy enough and yet still stylish enough for me!

So 9-5 girls, would you wear this to work and what items would you change/add to suit your own personal style?

Black Dress Red Shoe March 12, 2009

Trendy Thursday: Black Dress Red Shoe

Black dress and red shoes for a date night with Big Z. We went and watch M.Nasir’s Alam Muzik Concert at Istana Budaya.

I like dressing up because most of the time I am either in my pjs (because I work from home) or in my workout attire teaching belly dancing. Any chance I got to play dress up I’ll took it! :D .

The dress is this really old thing I bought at a charity shop in the UK. I have worn this dress about a million times. To create a different look, I throw on a black and silver belt I found hanging in my closet. I got the red shoes at Gaza’s Charity Bazaar a few weeks earlier and I am quite excited to wear them for the first time! :D

I really like the scarf that I am wearing that night, and the way I styled it. But we were in a rush so I forgot to take a close up pictures.

I believe we don’t have to buy every latest trends, and keep buying new clothes just to look nice and stylish. With a little bit of creativity in accessorising and hijab-styling – any old thing can shine as new ;)

Dusty Pink March 5, 2009

Trendy Thursday: Dusty Pink

This set is specially created with one of my blog reader in mind, Sameera. She requested that I did a few ‘pink’ sets to encourage her to wear more pink. So this is one set that I call Dusty Pink.

I understand some women’s challenge in trying to wear a new colour. What would be a good a trick is to combine it with a more neutral or subdued colour. In this set, I chose peachy cream and off white colours to tone down the pink.

I hope you like this one Sameera ;)

Red Butterfly February 12, 2009

Trendy Thursday: Red Butterfly

Red Butterfly – by Elwarda on Polyvore.com

I thought of doing an evening dress look and I was looking for what would be perfect to cover this black dress. I came across this gorgeous butterfly printed poncho and I thought, how perfect! It has little red dots on it too, but you really gotta look closely to see it on this image. I chose 2 scarves; red if I am feeling a bit bolder and black if I want to tone it down. I will wear the red lip gloss if I wear a black scarf, but I will never wear a red scarf than wear a red lipstick/lipgloss. Nope, the boiled lobster look will never be in season! ;) And look at the clutch that I found, isn’t it just so darling!

Trendy Thursday: Earth Brown

This set reminds me of my sister whose whole wardrobe is almost brown in colour! :D

I kinda like the print of the dress and put the whole set together because of it. If you are like my sister, and loves the earthy brown hue, do check out my Elwarda Asal collection in my blogshop, Elwarda Accessories. You might find something that you like there ;)
